Who is this course for?
This half-day course is designed for all members of staff and will cover the workplace fire safety topics needed to ensure the safety of the employee and their fellow staff members. Instruction also satisfies the requirements laid down in the regulatory reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.
What will I learn?
The course gives delegates the training required by the regulatory reform fire safety order 2005 (article 21). It aims to provide information to allow persons to safeguard their own health, the health of others affected by their work, and any staff they might be responsible for.
Learning outcomes and contents
The course has five broad learning outcomes:
- Chemistry and movement of fire
- Actions in the event of a fire incident
- Fire extinguisher agents
- Classification of fires
- Practical fire fighting experience
How is the programme run?
The course is held over a half day and is split into two areas.
First portion is classroom based, incorporating exercises and question and answer sessions in conjunction with PowerPoint and fire scene videos for an interactive course. The course content can be adjusted to focus on the key areas affecting you.
The information here is for the “standard” course but can be tailored to your requirements.
The second portion of the course is held outside at a small area of the site. Live practical fire fighting experience is gained through the use of fire extinguisher and a LPG powered fire simulator.
Course Certification
A certificate of attendance is awarded to each delegate following completion of the course. An optional multiple-choice assessment can be incorporated at the end of the training to verify learning achievements. The regulatory reform (fire safety) order 2005 requires refresher training every year.
