Fire Extinguisher Training

This course is designed for all member of staff nominated for potential fire fighting duties at their place of work.

The course gives the nominated person the confidence to approach a small workplace fire and use a first aid fire fighting appliance correctly and efficiently.

The course has five broad learning outcomes:

• Chemistry of fire
• The Fire Triangle
• The classification of fire
• Fire extinguisher types and variations
• Practical fire fighting experience

The course is a short course, usually just under 2 hours and is split into 2 areas.

First portion is classroom based, incorporating exercises and question and answer sessions in conjunction with fire scene videos for an interactive course. The course content can be adjusted to focus on the key areas affecting you: the information here is for “standard” course but can be tailored to your requirements.

The second portion of the course is held outside at a small area of the site. Live practical fire fighting experience is gained through the use of fire extinguishers and a LPG powered fire simulator.

A certificate of attendance is awarded to each delegate following completion of the course. An optional multiple-choice assessment can be incorporated at the end of the training to verify learning achievement. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005 requires refresher training every year.
