BS EN ISO 7010:2012 has now been adopted!

The Law requires safety signs that are used within premises should be understood and there is a duty on the responsible person to carry out an audit and review of any significant finding and if necessary make the necessary changes. The changes made to the graphical symbols under BS EN ISO 7010 are to ensure compliance to this requirement.

Jalite photoluminescent signs are designed to satisfy the requirements of BS EN ISO 7010 and are a cost-effective way to change, save on maintenance and save energy ñ An excellent, cost-effective solution to meet the new requirements.

Jalite fire safety photoluminescent signs are manufactured to perform in accordance with the new International and British Standards for life saving luminance characteristics. Please contact our services department on 01482 228576 for more information.

Conformance to BS EN ISO 7010

The Health and Safety Sign Association offer the following advice regarding conformance to BS EN ISO 7010 and compliance to the Health and Safety (Signs and Signals) Regulations.

The new changes required to conform to BS EN ISO 7010 have been adopted specifically to ensure improved intuitive comprehension of the safety message.

The legislation requires that a formal risk assessment be carried out and this will determine the need for safety signs to locate and identify lifesaving equipment, escape routes and first aid equipment.

The Health and Safety Sign Association recommend that an audit and review should be carried out to determine the residual risk associated with using a safety sign of poor non-conforming design. It is a recommendation that a plan is drawn up for their replacement. This plan will prioritise the replacement of those signs that are poorly designed and those comprehension credentials have not been proven under BS ISO 9186.
