What should be maintained

Spitfire Services recommend all electrical systems and equipment should be maintained if danger would otherwise arise.

Other than the fixed installation, all electrical equipment in an installation, whether permanently connected or connected by a plug and socket-outlet, should be inspected and tested at regular intervals.

Periodic inspection of fixed installation should be carried out to ensure satisfactory condition for continued use as required by BS 7671.

Who has responsibilities?

Everybody who uses an electrical appliance has a responsibility to carry out a user check of the appliance before they use it.

Maintenance staff, with the responsibility for the maintenance of all electrical appliances.

The competent person who has responsibilities to carry out the visual inspection and the inspections and tests of all the electrical appliances on the site.
